By default, manager relationships for cycle snapshots are defined by the manager relationships set in People Administration by System or HR Admins prior to creation of the snapshot by a System Admin.
However, sometimes a manager relationship needs to be reassigned after the snapshot has been created or even during an active cycle. There are many business circumstances that could require manager changes even if the snapshot was correct when it was generated, such as departing managers and departmental re-organization.
The good news is that it is possible for both System and HR Admins to edit the reporting relationships for the snapshot directly in the product’s user interface.
Let’s learn how!
First, navigate to the employee’s profile in the Team > Surveys & performance dashboard, making sure to select the correct cycle to edit:
Next, remove the existing manager email and enter the work email address of the new manager:
Click the blue “Save” button to save changes.
It’s a good idea, as an optional final step, to quickly make sure the new manager is participating in the cycle!
To do this, a System Admin should navigate to the Participants tab of the cycle in Cycle Administration and search for the manager. If the manager is in the cycle snapshot, select their name and click “Edit participants”- this will bring up a list of the manager’s participation activities for the cycle. Managers must have the checkbox for “Evaluating direct reports” checked in order to write reviews and give ratings to their reports:
If the new manager is not yet in the cycle’s participants snapshot, a System Admin can add them, and then assign participation activities as above.
